The Inspiration

For this design, I was inspired by the challenge of going completely backless. I knew I wanted the front to be constructed with a fuzzy, fluid mohair, and I was able to play with the drape of the material to create a cowl-halter shape.

Sketching and Planning

It took a lot of trial and error to construct the mohair body, but once I got the shape I wanted, I planned out the different backless closure materials to try out.

Experimenting!

My original idea was to create a beaded pearl back, but once I tried it out, I found that the materials wouldn't be sturdy enough to create a functional, wearable top. I found some second hand chiffon fabric that inspired me to create a long, dramatic train.
