A study of tulle
01
The Inspiration
These tops were inspired by my adoration of lingerie: soft lines and silhouettes, so undeniably feminine. I love combining the airy, soft texture of mohair with the structured shape of ruffled tulle. The ethereal, dream-like effect that this combination creates has turned this piece into my best-seller.

Sketching and Planning

Experimenting!
After finalizing the structured mohair body with contrasting bodice stitching, I did a lot of experimenting with different ways of attaching tulle and ruffled trim.
04
The finalized process
After a lot of trial and error, I found that three layers of tulle put through a ruffler foot was the most reliable and efficient way of achieving my desired result. The tulle is then hand stitched onto a thick knit strap, and attached to the bodice. To ensure the embroidery stitching stays in place, I hand stitch the back of each stitch to ensure the top is durable.
